Sofa Throws & Bed Throws

Fed up looking at the same old pattern on your current settee but can’t afford to invest in a new sofa or have it recovered? Then why not brighten the room up with a colourful and vibrant new sofa throw? It will cost you a fraction of the price of buying a new sofa but should do an excellent job of transforming the furniture.

In order to ensure you get the perfect throw – both design and size-wise – consider ordering a custom made throw. Sure it’s possible to pick up a perfectly pleasant throw from the high street but is it exactly what you’re looking for? Or are you just settling for that particular fabric because it was the one throw in the shop which seemed to fit in best with the rest of the colour scheme in your room?

At Curtains Made Simple we have a large selection of fabrics from some of the Uks leading design houses, as well as international designers. These include materials in a variety of shades, themes and textures from the likes of the traditional English designs of Ian Mankin, the flamboyance of Ian Mankin, vintage and country loving Cath Kidston, shabby chic styles from Cabbages and Roses and the vibrantly coloured and fun designs of The Swedish Fabric Company.

Advantages of Having a Custom Made Sofa Throw

As well as brightening up your room and hiding that annoying sofa pattern for a while, a throw will protect the fabric of your settee at the same time in terms of making sure there are no stains, dust, water marks or claws ripping the fabric.

And talking of cleaning, cotton throws tend to be the easiest to wash and keep clean as it’s not too difficult to remove stains from cotton – certainly not in comparison to a luxurious velvet or chenille throw. The latter two fabrics are lovely to look at and touch but, when it comes to choosing a throw, it’s certainly worth considering the fabric’s durability, especially if it’s going to be used on a sofa or chair which gets a lot of use.

That means throws which are intended for the kitchen or a child’s room should really be made of a tougher and thicker fabric which is easy to simply throw in the washing machine on a regular basis.

Bed Down with a Throw

Throws aren’t just for the sitting room or sun room of course. They can also make quite an impact in the bedroom too – especially if co-ordinated with custom made curtains, Roman blinds or seat covers (if you’re fortunate enough to have a window seat). Embroidered, silk and satin bed throws work very well in a bedroom, adding a luxurious look.

Get Seasonal with a Throw

A great idea for decorating your home at Christmas is to invest in a seasonal throw. It will help you get that festive feeling but without going to too much effort. It will also prove lovely and cosy at a traditionally chilly time of year.
